Strengthening Monitoring & Evaluation Excellence through Partnership with the World Food Programme

From 22–24 June 2026, Walking in Grace for Lifelong Impact (WiGLI), in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP), successfully organized a three-day Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) capacity-building workshop. The technical sessions were facilitated by WFP, bringing together 12 WiGLI staff members and 18 WFP monitors in a collaborative learning environment.

Through the SERAA-Burundi Project, WiGLI is committed to generating reliable, timely, and high-quality data that supports accountability, transparency, and evidence-based humanitarian action. Robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems are essential for tracking progress, measuring results, and ensuring that assistance reaches the people who need it most. By producing credible data and promoting continuous learning, WiGLI contributes to informed decision-making, improved programme quality, more efficient resource allocation, and greater impact for vulnerable communities.

The workshop focused on the core pillars of WFP programs effective Monitoring and Evaluation, including:
High-quality data collection and data management;
Monitoring tools, methodologies, and standard procedures;
Data analysis, reporting, and evidence-based decision-making;
Field monitoring missions and supervision
Accountability, learning, and continuous programme improvement.
This was an impactful opportunity to continue improving the quality of our activities. The workshop not only strengthened technical skills in monitoring and evaluation but also reinforced our dedication to accountability , learning, and delivering results that truly make a difference.

Beyond strengthening technical skills, the workshop provided a valuable platform for dialogue and collaboration between WiGLI and WFP Field Monitors. Through interactive group discussions, participants openly shared field experiences, identified operational challenges, and jointly developed practical recommendations to improve data quality, harmonize monitoring practices, strengthen coordination, enhance beneficiary accountability, and ensure more effective and timely implementation of the SERAA-Burundi.
These exchanges fostered a shared understanding of best practices and reinforced the collective commitment to continuous learning and programme improvement.

WiGLI sincerely thanks the World Food Programme (WFP) for facilitating this important workshop and for its continued partnership in strengthening Monitoring and Evaluation capacity.

Together, we are building stronger systems, improving accountability, and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those who need it most with greater effectiveness and impact.
