WiGLI Participates in World Food Programme/Burundi Capacity-Building Workshop on Prevention of hashtag#SexualExploitationandAbuse(PSEA)

On July 2–3, 2026, Walking in Grace for Lifelong Impact (WiGLI) participated in a two-day Capacity-Building Workshop on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) organized by the World Food Programme (WFP) in Burundi.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) principles and standards across humanitarian organizations. It emphasized the shared individual and institutional responsibility to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse, protect survivors, and uphold a culture of zero tolerance for all forms of misconduct.

The training further enhanced participants’ knowledge of PSEA concepts, accountability mechanisms, safeguarding responsibilities, and ethical conduct within humanitarian programming. It also reinforced the importance of integrating effective protection measures into community-level interventions to ensure that assistance is delivered safely, respectfully, and without harm.

Through the capacity-building sessions, participants strengthened their understanding of:
🎄 Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) principles and standards;
🎗️ Survivor-centred approaches and protection responsibilities;
🎀 Safe, confidential, and accessible complaint and feedback mechanisms;
🛝 Incident reporting, referral pathways, and case management procedures;

Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and organizational safeguarding systems; and
Individual and institutional roles in fostering a safe, respectful, and accountable humanitarian environment.

WiGLI remains committed to embedding safeguarding and PSEA principles across all its programmes and operations, ensuring that the dignity, rights, safety, and protection of communities remain at the centre of humanitarian and development interventions.
