International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste

STOP FOOD LOSS AND WASTE. FEED THE PEOPLE. PROTECT THE PLANET.

September 29, 2026

Today, 29 September, WiGLI joins the global community in marking the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.

Food that is lost or wasted represents more than wasted food. It also means wasted water, land, energy, labour, money and opportunities—while millions of people continue to face food insecurity.

At Walking in Grace for Lifelong Impact (WiGLI), we believe that reducing food loss and waste is an important part of building food-secure, resilient and sustainable communities.

🌾 Let us:

  • Reduce food loss throughout production, storage and distribution.
  • Store and handle food safely and efficiently.
  • Avoid unnecessary food waste at household and institutional levels.
  • Promote responsible consumption.
  • Support farmers and communities to preserve the value of the food they produce.
  • Turn food systems into systems that nourish people and protect our planet.

Every meal saved is a step toward a food-secure future.
Every resource we protect contributes to a healthier planet.

🌍 Together, let us stop food loss and waste—for the people, for the planet, and for future generations.
