Celebrating International Women’s Day by Inspiring Women in Gitega

On March 8, 2026, PAEEJ in Gitega marked International Women’s Day (IWD) with an inspiring and engaging session dedicated to women’s empowerment and leadership. The event brought together more than 50 women employees and partners of PAEEJ, creating a dynamic space for reflection, learning, and mutual encouragement.

The session was facilitated by WiGLI in collaboration with Lady Pro Tuduzanye and focused on the theme “Women and the Challenges of Managing Responsibilities.” Participants explored the realities women face in balancing professional roles, family obligations, and personal aspirations. Through interactive discussions, group work, and a series of reflective questions, women shared experiences and practical strategies for navigating these multiple responsibilities. A key highlight of the session was the development of individual action plans. Each participant identified practical steps to improve the management of personal and professional responsibilities using a 24/7 life management approach, recognizing that achieving balance requires intentional planning and supportive environments.

The event demonstrated that celebrating International Women’s Day goes beyond recognition, it is about creating opportunities for women to reflect, learn, and strengthen their leadership capacities. Participants expressed strong motivation to apply the lessons learned in their daily lives.

To sustain this momentum, a follow-up session is planned in three months to review progress, share experiences, and continue supporting women in their journey toward effective leadership and balanced responsibilities.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment by PAEEJ, WiGLI, and Lady Pro Tuduzanye to promote women’s empowerment, leadership, and well-being in Burundi.
