WiGLI Joins the World in Celebrating World AIDS Day 2025

Date: 1 December 2025
Theme: “Ending AIDS: Communities Lead the Way.”

Today, Walking in Grace for Lifelong Impact (WiGLI) stands with the global community to commemorate World AIDS Day (WAD)—a day of remembrance, solidarity, and renewed commitment to ending HIV/AIDS.

This year’s theme highlights a powerful truth: communities remain at the heart of the HIV response. In Burundi, women, adolescents, community health workers, peer educators, and caregivers continue to lead courageous efforts in prevention, testing, treatment, and stigma reduction.

Our Commitment on World AIDS Day

WiGLI integrates HIV prevention, testing, and care across all child health and family resilience programs. On this World AIDS Day, we reaffirm our dedication to:

  • Expanding HIV prevention education for youth, women, and caregivers
  • Supporting PMTCT and Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) for mothers and infants
  • Strengthening adolescent-friendly counseling and testing services
  • Promoting family-wide testing and stigma reduction
  • Ensuring immediate linkage to ART treatment and adherence support
  • Empowering communities with accurate information and compassionate care

Why We Celebrate World AIDS Day?

World AIDS Day reminds us to:

  • Honor the lives lost and the families affected
  • Celebrate progress in treatment and community leadership
  • Stand with people living with HIV
  • Raise awareness and encourage testing
  • Mobilize communities to eliminate stigma
  • Build a future where no child, woman, or adolescent is left behind

WiGLI invites partners, donors, youth leaders, and community organizations to join efforts in building a stronger, stigma-free Burundi. Ending HIV is possible—but only when communities lead with compassion, knowledge, and unity.
